Installation Instructions for 20305 Cam Bolt Locking Plate

This plate is designed to prevent the cam bolts from working loose after being torqued. Locking plate also holds the cam button spacer in place when utilizing a roller cam.

Assuming the camshaft and timing gear are in place and ready for final assembly, make sure the small hole in the locking plate is aligned with the camshaft dowel pin. Slide the supplied bolts through the locking plate and gear, and into the camshaft. Tighten the hex bolts using a wrench, 1/2 turn at a time, in a circular pattern until all the bolts are snugged up. Torque the bolts to 20 ft. lbs. Each bolt will have two tabs on the locking plate.

Use only one tab for each bolt. Choose a tab that is closest to 90° from a flat on the hex bolt. Use a screwdriver to pry the chosen tab up. Use a flat punch to drive the tab against the flat of the hex. DO NOT bend the top over if it sticks above the bolt head.
