The camshaft gear must be removed from the camshaft. Place the gear face down (bolt head side) on a drill press. Drill all 4 holes (dowel hole and 3 bolt holes) with a 13/32” drill bit all the way through.
De-bur the holes before placing the gear back on the camshaft. Place the gear back onto the camshaft and only finger tighten the bolts. Install the bushing over the dowel (advanced or retard) and into the cam gear.
Note: with the dowel at 3 o’clock (TDC) the heavy side of the bushing placed in the upward position will advance the cam. Likewise, the bushing with the heavy side down will retard the cam.
Tighten the bolts to spec. Use a center punch to place 3 dimples approximately 1/16” from the edge of the bushing hole on the cam gear.
We have supplied a zero degree bushing to return the timing to the factory setting if you so desire. Remember that using a two degree cam bushing means a change of four degrees at the crank.
20300 zero degree (gray), 2 (gold), 4 (copper), 6 (silver) & 8 (black)
20301 numbered only 0,1,3,5 & 7 not color coded.
