Installation Instructions for 15408 Vortec Spacer Kit 

for 1996-2004 7.4 & 8.1L V8 VORTEC ENGINES 

Installation Instructions: 

1. With engine off, remove air cleaner assembly from top of throttle body unit. 

2. Using a 10mm socket, remove mounting bolts from the front side of throttle body. Remove wire connectors and linkage. Remove throttle body unit Do NOT remove silicone gasket from intake. Clean carbon from throttle body unit using carburetor cleaner. 

3. Remove air cleaner mounting stud and bolt from throttle linkage bracket. Save for later use. 

4. Install linkage plates using two 6mm screws. 

5. Install air cleaner mounting stud (refer to step #3) using 5/16” nut and lock washer. 

6. Install spacer plate onto intake. Install gasket. Install throttle body unit. 

7. Replace mounting bolts with three 6mm x 60mm bolts. Torque to 6ft-lbs. 

8. Inspect throttle for open and closed travel. Some cruise control cables may need to be adjusted. See service manual for instructions. 

9. Reinstall air cleaner assembly. 

10. Start engine and let idle for approximately five minutes. Drive the vehicle for approximately fifteen minutes to allow the computer to relearn.
