for 1996-2003 CHEVY 4.3L V6 VORTEC
1. With engine off, remove air cleaner assembly from top of throttle body unit.
2. Using an 8mm socket, remove two bolts from the front side of throttle body (see illustration, #1).
3. Remove air cleaner spacer and one stud from the rear of the throttle body unit. Unscrew the spacer from the stud for reuse (see illustration, #2).
4. Remove wire connectors and linkage from the throttle body unit. Remove throttle body unit. Clean throttle body unit with carburetor cleaner.
5. Install vortec spacer with gaskets (on both sides of spacer) onto the intake. Install throttle body unit onto the spacer. Use two 6mm x 60mm x 51/2” threadall bolts for the front of unit and 6mm 3” threadall with washers for the rear of unit. Torque to 5ft-lbs. Install wire connectors.
6. Remove throttle linkage bracket and stud from intake.
7. Install the throttle linkage spacer under the throttle bracket using one 6mm x 60mm bolt. Reinstall to throttle body unit. Tighten intake bolt to 7ft-lbs (see illustration, #3).
8. Inspect throttle for open and closed travel. Some cruise control cables may need to be adjusted. See service manual for instructions.
9. Install air cleaner housing.
10. Start engine and let idle for approximately five minutes. Drive the vehicle for approximately fifteen minutes to allow the computer to relearn.
