Note: We recommend the Jeg's 50 Amp Fuse, Block and Cover #555-10520 as an added safety feature to complete this installation. Should a power surge or spike occur a fuse can be replaced easily versus a fusible link which requires rewiring of the circuit.
1. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery.
2a. On GM/Chrysler installations without a starter relay install a 3/8” ring terminal to one end of the 8 ga. (larger diameter) wire. Install ring terminal & wire on battery cable post of the starter.
2b. On Ford installations or other vehicles utilizing a starter relay install a 5/16” ring terminal to one end of the 8 ga. (larger diameter) wire. Install ring terminal & wire on battery cable side of the starter relay.
3. Locate a suitable position for the 50 Amp Fuse, Block and Cover #555-10520 away from any heat sources but within the length of the 8ga. wire. Secure the fuse in place.
4. Route the 8 ga. wire to the 50 Amp Fuse, cut to length and install a #10 ring terminal (smallest of the three size terminals) and connect to the fuse block.
5. Install the alternator wire (with rubber boot and ring terminal already attached) to the post on the back of the alternator.
6. Route the 10 ga. alternator wire to the 50 Amp Fuse, cut to length and install a #10 ring terminal (smallest of the three size terminals) and connect to the fuse block.
7. Reconnect the Positive battery cable first and then the Negative battery cable.
