Customer q:

Will s 383 stroker fit in a 1978 Corvette without modifications to the hood?

CAR MAKE & MODEL

engine = 383 V8

fuel = Carburetor

make = Chevy

model = Corvette

trans = Automatic

year = 1978

JEGS ANSWER:

Yes, the 383ci displacement is configured with a longer bore and stroke inside the same outside dimensional package as the factory 350ci engine. Where you run into issues with the Corvette is the intake carburetor pad height. For your application with a 2-piece rear main seal, I would recommend purchasing a short block engine and using the factory intake, carburetor and air cleaner to avoid hood clearance issues. Here is a short block engine and cylinder heads for you to consider -

Your other option for increased performance is to use an aftermarket L88 or cowl induction hood or scoop.
