STATESVILLE, N.C. (February 28, 2018)—In his second full-time season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and first with GMS Racing, Cody Coughlin has set his sights on one goal: to win, to be on top and to put himself in position to earn his first NASCAR championship.

Coughlin knows that the GMS Racing organization and, more importantly, his No. 2 JEGS team have the tools needed to make a legitimate run at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship title. Coughlin also knows that having the right tools to make a run for the title is only one piece of the puzzle.

A title run requires one part preparation, one part strategy and one part luck. Coughlin and his JEGS team are looking for “Lady Luck” to be on their side at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After two races of the 2018 NASCRA Camping World Truck Series season, Coughlin was putting in solid runs in the top-10, and advancing up through the field, before becoming the victim of misfortunes not of his own making. Thus, Coughlin sits in the 16th place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver point standings, which means he has ground to make up in order to be a contender for the title.

The good news for the driver of the No. 2 JEGS Chevrolet Silverado for GMS Racing is that there's no better time to encounter “Lady Luck” than when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads west to the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway for the running of the Stratosphere 200 on Friday, March 2.

On top of Coughlin and GMS Racing’s preparations, Donny Osmond, a Coughlin family friend, will be joining Cody Coughlin at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for some added luck. The veteran celebrity entertainer and racing enthusiast co-stars in the Donny and Marie Show at the Flamingo Las Vegas in Las Vegas.

While the 22-year old finished in the 17th-place in the season-opening event at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and in the 20th-place in last Saturday's event at the Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, the final results were not indicative of how strong Coughlin and the No. 2 JEGS team have been to start the season and ultimately their innate potential for the season.

The Delaware, Ohio, native knows that adding some hard work by the entire JEGS team to the equation could yield results, just like last year's sixth-place finish as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Coughlin. Based on his finish in the “City of Lights” last September, Coughlin clearly knows how to get around the 1.5-mile oval. In two starts at the Las Vegas facility, he has one top-10 finish.

“I love racing at the Las Vegas (Motor Speedway) in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” Coughlin said. “Last year, I had a good run with a sixth-place finish and I am confident that I will again this year with the No. 2 JEGS Chevrolet Silverado team with me at GMS Racing.

“Aside from the on-track action, Las Vegas is one of my favorite cities we travel to throughout the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. I love the lights, the hotels and the amazing world-class food.”

Since entering the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2013, the Statesville, N.C.,-based GMS Racing team has logged 12 starts at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, resulting in three top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes, with an average starting position of 8.3 and an average finishing position of 10.2.

Coughlin and the GMS Racing team will hope to be a factor once again in Las Vegas, much as they were at the first two races of the season. But this time, they are betting that “Lady Luck” will show up and push Coughlin and the No. 2 JEGS Chevrolet Silverado team to victory. Donny Osmond is along for the ride, and son, Don Osmond Jr., and they bring with them more Coughlin allies.

Don Osmond Jr., vice president of marketing for Flying Eyes Optics, will be in attendance at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to support Coughlin. Flying Eyes Optics announced the appointment of Coughlin as the world's most comfortable sunglasses exclusive NASCAR brand ambassador, a position he has embraced since the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at the Daytona International Speedway. Through this new partnership, Flying Eyes Optics has b-post placement on the No. 2 JEGS Chevrolet Silverado.  

The Stratosphere 200 will be broadcast live on FS1 on Friday, March 2 starting at 8:30 p.m. (ET). It will also broadcast live at 8:30 p.m. (ET) on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Qualifying for the third event of the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule will air on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (ET) on FS1.

The Stratosphere 200 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway will re-air on Saturday, March 3 at 6:00 a.m. (ET) on FS1.
