Customer q:
So, I got short tube headers by Flowtech. It came with the gaskets and the bolts. I was wondering what kind of gaskets are those. Are they good gaskets or are they crappy gaskets? Do they seal really well or are they not the best? The people who installed them also used RTV to help seal them. I was just wondering because I have a slight tick and it's not leaking anywhere. I was wondering if it's just ticking because of the way it flows. Thank you

JEGS ANSWER:
Hello:
Thank you for giving JEGS the opportunity to assist you with your technical question. The gaskets that come in those kits are middle of the road gaskets. They arent the best ones out there but they arent the old paper ones either. I treat them like a spare tire; they are there to get you by until you can put a good set on like these:
Using High Temp RTV is not uncommon when installing headers with paper gaskets. With copper, aluminum and graphite gaskets the RTV is not needed. An easy way to tell is with soapy water. If there is a leak it will blow bubbles. Just spray down the flanges with dawn and water and looks for bubbles to be blowing. If there are no bubbles, then I would consider the noise you are hearing as normal.
