Customer q:

Is it okay to have the higher rated converter installed and be able to drive fine? The car is about 500hp and will be going higher. A torque converter rated at 650 is too much, right?

JEGS ANSWER:

Thank you for giving JEGS the opportunity to assist you with your technical question.

Using a higher stall speed converter than needed will rob you of low end power. In some cases, it can damage the transmission. You just want to make sure the converter you are using matches the cam, intake, tire size and rear gear ratio you are using on your car. When it comes to HP rating, you want to make sure you do not exceed it.

We look forward to assisting you with your project in the future and if you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us.
